Since we are currently in mid-March 2026, we need to draw a roadmap to achieve your final objective. This is a crucial phase because your final performance is about to determine your future. Therefore, we need to focus on your final performance.
📅 Phase 1: The “Audit” (Mid-March – Late March)
First things: first, you need to have a fair idea of what exactly is on your plate before you start studying the books. It seems like PU has made a lot of changes to the curriculum to keep up with the latest academic calendar.
Confirm Syllabus: First, you need to check what specific subjects you need to prepare for, like Political Science, History, Economics, or English, on the PU Syllabus Portal. Also, check if there are any “Revised” tags on the subjects for the 2025-26 session.
Internal Assessment: Internal assessment accounts for approximately 10% of the total for most subjects, i.e., 90 points for theory and 10 points for internal assessment. All internal assessments and “SNAP Tests” must be submitted, as these points are “free” and count towards the total score.
Download “The Bible”: For PU students, “University Question Papers” from the last 5 years are a must. Most subjects have a pattern to their questions—if a subject has not come in the last two years, it is guaranteed to come this year.
📚 Phase 2: Subject Specific Strategy (April)
Your focus for the month is to cover the maximum content. Compulsory English/Punjabi: Do not ignore these subjects, as the marks may vary because of these subjects. Letter Writing, Report Writing, and Precise Writing have a lot of weightage, which is to be done in a specific format.
Electives (Major Subjects): Study the 4-unit pattern. In the case of PU papers, you will find two questions in each unit, out of which you have to attempt one.
TIP: It is better to have a thorough knowledge of one complete question from each unit instead of having a little knowledge of all the questions.
Resources: If you have not done it earlier, look out for the MBD or Kalyani Publishers.
✍️ Phase 3: The ‘Writing’ Drill (May – Exam Start)
At PU, it is not only what you write that matters, it is also how you write it.
The ‘Sheet’ Strategy: PU answer sheets are very long. It is best to keep them to 5-6 pages for a 15-mark question.
The Structure of Answers:
1. Introduction: 4-5 lines.
2.Definitions: Scholarly citations (extremely important for political science/sociology).
3. Flowcharts/Points: Use headings and subheadings.
4. Conclusion: A brief summary. Datesheet Watch: Keep a very close eye on the PU Exams Website. Even semester exams (2nd, 4th, 6th) usually start in May.
Post-Exam Checklist
As this is your final semester, the work continues even after the last exam.
Convocation & Degree: Double-check that there are no “R” codes (Reappear) from earlier semesters. In case there are, the result for the 6th semester will display “RL” (Result Late).
Entrance Exams: In case you are planning to do a Master’s at PU, i.e., MA, LLB, or MBA, the entrance forms for PU-CET (PG) or PU LLB are out in April/May.
Final Tip: Try to disable your social media notifications while studying, so you do not get distracted!
